The idyllic village of Roggio at an altitude of about 800 meters was the trekking base during our stay in Toscana.

1-3: From the village of Roggio, where we stayed for 9 wonderful days, enjoying the hospital friendliness of the guest house "La Fontanella".
4: Madame Gemma, the manager of "La Fontanella" in Roggio, prepared some of the most delicious meals I have ever had, made of good and traditional Italian food products.

1: Due to the hard winter, our first trekking day was quite a challenge, with plenty of snow in the forests during our ascent to the mountain hut Refugio Rossi alla Pania.

4: The mountains of Alpi Apuane are rich on marble, which has been cut in enormous blocks from the mountains since ancient times.





The photos on this page are taken with a Canon G2 digital camera. In order to reduce the download time, the size and the data of the photos are strongly reduced compared to the originals, and this has inevitably reduced the technical quality, too. However, all photos may be delivered in full size and quality for use in books, magazines, papers, etc. The price is 70 Euro per picture.
